Recent work at the University of York, Heslington, has explored voice synthesis by modelling the sound propagation in the vocal tract using a two-dimensional digital waveguide-mesh. This presentation explores whether the use of a three-dimensional mesh, developed from MRI scans of the vocal tract offers a viable and worthwhile improvement to the synthesis technique.
