A European cross-linguistic study of emotions through the voice - An overview and some methodological issues
Vincenzo Galatā, Department of Linguistics - University of Calabria
It is commonly accepted that humans are able to recognize vocal emotions cross-culturally. Despite that, many questions on how emotions are encoded and decoded are still open. I will give a brief introduction to the argument with an overview of previous cross-linguistic and cross-cultural studies on emotions. I will then discuss some of the methodological issues faced in this ongoing study and give an insight on the whole project together with its aims.
