Hello,

The sphere plug in does not appear to be loading with Wavesurfer 1.5.2 on RedHat 9. Upon seeing the problem, I deleted the .wavesurfer directory and started over.

The plug-in downloads without problem, but when opening files, the sphere type is not present in the file types drop down menu. I opened the console I tried to load the sphere plugin manually (Interp/packages/load snacksphere). It looks like it is trying to load the library from /usr/local/bin/wavesurfer/lib/snack2.2/ rather than ~/.wavesurfer/1.5/plugins:

Code:

couldn't load library "/usr/local/bin/wavesurfer/lib/snack2.2/libsnacksphere.so": no such file or directory
    while executing
"load /usr/local/bin/wavesurfer/lib/snack2.2/libsnacksphere.so"
    ("package ifneeded" script)
    invoked from within
"package require snacksphere 1.2"
    ("uplevel" body line 1)
    invoked from within
"uplevel #0 {package require snacksphere 1.2}"
    invoked from within
"interp eval $slave uplevel \#0 $args"
    (procedure "::tkcon::InterpEval" line 11)
    invoked from within
"Slave $app $args"
    (procedure "::tkcon::EvalOther" line 3)
    invoked from within
"::tkcon::EvalOther {} slave package require snacksphere 1.2"
    invoked from within
".tkcon.#tkcon#mbar.#tkcon#mbar#interp.#tkcon#mbar#interp#pkg2 invoke active"
    ("uplevel" body line 1)
    invoked from within
"uplevel #0 [list $w invoke active]"
    (procedure "tk::MenuInvoke" line 47)
    invoked from within
"tk::MenuInvoke .tkcon.#tkcon#mbar.#tkcon#mbar#interp.#tkcon#mbar#interp#pkg2 1"
    (command bound to event)

I tried reverting to 1.4.7 which has worked on my lab machines which are running RedHat 7.3. The same problem occurred. I also tried it as root to verify that there was not anything strange in my shell environment.

Any suggestions on resolving this would be appreciated.

Best wishes,
Marie

I started looking at the sphere.plug file and realized that the problem is due to a library mismatch:

Code:

(plugins) 37 % load "./libsnacksphere.so"
couldn't load file "./libsnacksphere.so": ./libsnacksphere.so: symbol errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

This can be temporarily fixed by telling the loader to assume an older kernel:

Code:

> export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
> wavesufer &

I assume that this could be resolved by rebuilding the module against RH 9, however I was unable to find a link to the source on either the snack or wavesurfer download pages.

Hello,

I've rebuilt snackshpere.so on my RedHat 8 box, maybe that helps. I've updated the distrbution.
If you want to build yourself download Snack (http://www.speech.kth.se/snack/) and follow the instructions.
