When working offline, the Help menu does not function. Is it acceptable to get a copy of the information from the website and display it in an offline browser in this case? Or is there another way to get Help information when not online?

I have modified wavesurfer 1.5.2 to be able to display help information when working offline. I have a number of questions concerning this.
1. I have downloaded three of the pages from your website, editing out some of the links and leaviing most of the rest as addresses. The date of the download is included in the edited file. Is this acceptable?
2. The built-in display does not handle a url that is actually a file on the local host. Is this an inherent limitation, or can it be easily changed to accept a URL of the form 'file:///...'?
3. I have added a command line argument to indicate that the program is running offline. The help menu is different in this case (no access the to user forum) and the widget commands are changed (using a browser with local files). I also had to change the program flow so that the menu creation comes after command line argument parsing. I also added a new tab to the preferences dialog to allow the help file location and the browser command to be automatically loaded for a user session. Would you be interested in the code for these changes? If so, I would certainly appreciate any comments or suggestions that you might have.
4. I found a statement that was partially commented; it may affect the performance if a second command argument for a button overrides the first. It is line 2680 in wavesurfer.tcl.

Thank you for your time.

Marg,
In the upcoming Wavesurfer release (due later today/early next week) the manual is included and read locally. Since the manual is tied to the version of wavesurfer anyway, this is really what makes most sense, I think. The builtin html-widget is updated to handle local URLs.

regards

That's great news! I'm looking forward to trying the new version.
