Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can make Wavesurfer save spectral/time information of the snippet under the mouse pointer in a FFT window to a file upon mouse clicking?
Is this easily possible with the new feature in 1.5.6 (haven't tried it yet).

Or is there an easy hack to modify the subroutine which is currently called upon clicking the mouse, so that sound data is saved every time?

Thanks a lot!

Try the latest version. There's a pop-up menu for copying data to the clipboard. Use paste in whatever program you wish to insert the data in. Feel free to suggest improvements, this was just a quick hack.

Hi Kåre,

Thanks a lot for that reply. As I understand it, the new feature is just for copying transcription data to the clipboard right? That's not what I'm looking for. The thing I have in mind is to be able to save sound information that's at the bottom of the window to a file. So that's time, freqeuncy and amplitude information. Would that be difficult to make? I thought it would merely require to change the little function that describes what happens on a Button-1 event. Perhaps not to loose too much funtionality it may be handier to use the middle mouse button for this. A little dialog box or menu item to set the path to the correct file would be ideal I think.

Would this be difficult to create? It would make automated (and hence faultless) acquiring of data much more efficient.

Cheers!

If you use the latest version and open a spectrum section you will find that there is a popup-menu for copying values to the clipboard. When the cursor is at the desired point, press the right menu button and choos "append point". Now you can use "paste" in your favourite text editing program to insert the data (time freq, amp). By choosing the same analysis parameters for the spectrum section and the spectrogram these will give the exactly same values.

I'll look into creating a copy-binding for the contents of the message bar at the bottom of each main window. Currently this only works on Linux.

Hi Kåre,

Thanks for that longer reply. I had a look at it and it seems pretty useful. At the end of your mail you write

"I'll look into creating a copy-binding for the contents of the message bar at the bottom of each main window. Currently this only works on Linux. "

I mostly if not only use Linux, so for me this would suffice. It would make my life a lot easier icon_smile.gif . But I guess you mean you're having a look to see if you're going to implement it into the full Wavesurfer app, right?

THanks again,

Bob

On Linux you can use F9 to lock the message bar contents. Select the text with the mouse and paste it using the middle button. A more general/standard solution is coming.
