I cannot hear any sound via wavesurfer 1.5.x or 1.6.0 on MacOS X 10.3 G4 machine. I'm using USB sound interface module which does work for other programs.

When I move "Snack2.2" directory from "tcl" directory into other place (like "library"), we can hear sound via wavesurfer while executing recording function will result in the script crash (and therefore wavesurfer will be closed). On the other hand, as far as we keep the Snack2.2 directory in the "tcl" directory, the recording function works, though no sound comes out via wavesurfer.

Further more, I disconnected the USB-sound interface and specified sound output to internal speaker (in System Preferences/Sound). Then, wavesurfer crashes.

Is there any way I can make it work?

Thanks for your report!

The Tcl distribution probably comes with an older (buggy) version of Snack. WaveSurfer has it's own. This explains why the behaviour changes. We use an iMac for a speech database recording project (with an USB mic). The application is written using Tcl/Snack and has proven very reliable. But obviously the are more issues to solve...
I'll look over the code when I upgrade to 10.3.
