When saving a file with "Save" or "Save as..." wavesurfer correctly saves the label pane's contents, but does not provide a correct filename.

Unless the user specificaly provides a file name for the pane, wavesurfer produces a ".lab" file without a filename but with only the extension .lab, containing the labels. If the user creates another label pane and saves it, it gets its name from the named sound object correctly, when saved. However, any additionally opened label pane does not get a filename, like the first one manually opened did.

A more consistent behaviour could probably be the following:

If the user has not provided an individual name for the pane(s) that are open in a session, then wavesurfer should name the files <filename>1.lab , <filename>2.lab etc, where <filename> is the name of the sound object loaded.

Otherwise, the files should be saved with the name given by the user.

It would also be very desirable to be able to save ".f0" files automatically, along with the .lab files, if a pitch contour also exists at saving time.

In fact, all kinds of panes should provide the user with a choice, in their "pane" properties tab, for automatic saving of their contents with the default name, if a user provided name does not exist.

A whole wavesurfer session can thus be saved in one go.

Thanks for bringing this subject up! It's complicated and I'll have a look at it more closely and get back to you.
Have to admit that I only use the popup-menus Load/Save items for saving label files.
It probably never occured to us that a user might want to save a sound file and associated files under a different base name as a whole group. In my work I almost always work with sound files from a database where the file names never change. Alternatively, I work on (edit) one sound file alone, without associated files. In this case I naturally want to change the name sometimes.
The options on the File menu where really intended for the sound file alone, but some functionality has found it's way in there, guess it needs straightening out a bit.
