"Pitch contour" works only for a mono file. Are there any easy ways to extract pitch from
a WAV (stereo) file (I can create separate panes for left and right channels, but cannot
extract (or I do not know how to extract ) pitch separately. I might be able to extract mono
files from a WAV file, and extract pitch from them, but I'd like to know easier ways if exist.

Thanks in advance for your kind reply.

Currently this is a limitation in the pitch pane, could be fixed with minor effort (but so could more import things).

Easiest is probably to convert the file to mono first (Transform | Convert...)

If you want to obtain the pitch for the two channels separately this can be done with a Snack script. http://www.speech.kth.se/snack/
Be inspired by this code for extracting left and right channels from a stereo sound.

snack::sound s
snack::sound t
set f [snack::filter map]

s read /space/d/stereo_test.wav

t copy s
$f configure 1 0 1 0 ;# transformation matrix given row-wise
t filter $f
t convert -channels 1
t write left.wav

t copy s
$f configure 0 1 0 1
t filter $f
t convert -channels 1
t write right.wav

Check out http://www.speech.kth.se/snack/tutorial.html#batch for code to extract the pitch contour.
