My TIMIT label files are not loading correctly if they contain labels that go beyond 3500000 samples. If any label exceeds 3500000 samples (for example 3500001) all labels in the file will appear compressed at the beginning of the file.

The sound files are 16-bit, 16kHz, mono wav-files. WS-version 1.7.4. Platform: Windows XP, SP2.

I do not know exactly in which version of WS this problem appeared, but I do know that it did not occur in version 1.6.4.

Thankful for a fix - falling back to v 1.6.4 until then.

This is not a bug it's a new feature (but with some limitations, which you happened to hit).

If you open Properties you'll see that WaveSurfer has interpreted your label file as having a format other than TIMIT. You should unset Trans2 | "Auto-detect transcription file format". Also set the format back to TIMIT. Now this configuration will work as before.

WaveSurfer simply won't accept very long TIMIT format files any longer with the default settings. On the other hand most normal files should load automatically, without the need to specify the format explicitly.

The real solution is of course to start using the WaveSurfer format. icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks, Kåre,

Actually, I've been using the WaveSurfer format for more than a year now icon_cool.gif but I haven't got around to converting my older TIMIT label files to WaveSurfer. I know it's a dead simple conversion, but there is the issue of different sample rates...

That's the beauty of the WaveSurfer format, the transcription files are independent of changes to the sample rate. But most importantly, they are easily readable for a human (at least me icon_biggrin.gif )
