Anders Askenfelt

Anders Askenfelt is professor in music acoustics. Joining the music acoustics group in 1975, he has worked with automatic transcription of music, computer analysis of voice characteristics, sound generation in the piano and perception of piano sounds, bow-string interaction, dynamics of violin bows, analysis of bowing gestures in string performance, stage acoustics in concert halls,and interactive computer programs for teaching young students to play a musical instrument. He has been associate editor of the international acoustical journal Acustica united with acta acustica for more than 10 years, and Vice Dean of KTH - School of Computer Science and Communication 2005 - 2010. He is director of the Research Center for Opera and Technology based at Royal University College of Opera and KTH. Since 1997 he is the chairman of the Department of Speech, Music and Hearing at KTH.
