Employments

Hearing Technology Group, Department of Speech, Music and Hearing, KTH in Stockholm since 1970. Main research activities in the development of phonetic and phonological analyses of the speech of deaf and hard-of-hearing persons, studies of phonological systems of deaf children, effects of cochlear implantation on speech production and computer-based speech training for second language learners.

  • Lecturer in speech production and acoustics at University College of Health Sciences, Stockholm, since 1983 and at the School for Education since 1990.
  • Lecturer in phonetics and linguistics, Institute of Linguistics, University of Stockholm since 1989.
  • Lecturer for speech therapists, Institute of Linguistics, University of Stockholm, since 1993.
  • Consultant to IBM, National Support Center for Persons with Disabilities, since 1987 in the area of computer-based speech training (SpeechViewer I, II, and III).
  • Project leader of the “Speech Therapy Programme” at the Manilla School for Deaf Children in Stockholm, since 1984.
  • Project leader of the introduction of “SpeechViewer II” in the pre-school-training for hard-of-hearing children at Hearing and Speech Clinic, Danderyds Hospital in Stockholm.
  • Project leader of the introduction of “SpeechViewer II and III” in the education and speech training of Immigrants in Sweden.
  • Lecturer at the School for Education; designing a computer-based speech therapy programme for cochlea implanted prelingually deaf children in Sweden.
  • Principal investigator in the Project “The Intelligibility of Synthetic Speech with regard to Hearing Impairment”, sponsored by the Swedish Handicap Institute.
  • Reviewer of the “Scandinavian Audiology”.
